Memorial Day Holiday Weekend

Memorial Day Holiday Weekend is regarded as the unofficial start to the summer boating season!

To make sure everybody has fun on the water follow these safety tips:

• Everyone on the boat must have a life jacket. (wearing it or easy to access)
• Boat’s driver must remain sober.
• Boaters should also be aware of changing conditions on the water.

According to Indiana Department of Natural Resources, the top 5 boating violations are:

1. Personal Flotation Devices: Life jacket - one wearable per person on the boat! 

2. Boat Registration and Numbering: bring your registration, just like your car’s!

3. Boating while intoxicated: you’ll go to jail!

4. Idle & night speed limit: remember that after sunset there is a 10-mph speed limit.

5. Towing without an observer.
