Product Description
PLEASE READ BEFORE ORDERING
APPLICATION:
- Fits MOST but maybe NOT all 3.0 Liter engine 200-225-250 HP engines from 1994 to 2006, including Mercury Optimax, EFI, and Carburated engines.
- Replaces Mercury OEM lower unit 859399T14
DESCRIPTION AND DETAILS:
- NEW aftermarket LOWER UNIT, not a remanufactured unit or a rebuilt unit
- Warranty: 3 year no fault warranty
- 100% OEM compatible, Bolt on application
- Comes with DUAL-WATER pick ups
- Includes METAL water pump and shaft,
- No core charge, keep your old unit
TECHNICAL INFORMATION:
- 15 spline propeller shaft for 15 spline propellers.
- Upper Drive Shaft Spline Count: 13 teeth
IMPORTANT NOTE ABOUT GEAR RATIO:
- 3.0 liter engines uses 2 gear ratio: 1.62:1 or 1.75:1. The 1.62:1 is very rare and tends ro be used in few mid 1990s engines.
- Gear ratio 1.87:1 is NOT available in thi slower unit
OTHER NOTES TO KEEP IN MIND:
- Does NOT include anode kit and gearcase OIL
- Comes with water tube coupling compatible with serial number 0G438000 and up. When replacing a lower unit serial 0G437999 and lower, original water tube coupling must be reused, or a new one 816597A1 must be purchase. (we sell it)
- NOT design to REPLACE Sport Master, Torque Master, or other high performace gearcases.
Measure from the top of the drive shaft to the top of the aluminum housing or the mounting surface:
- 20" midsection model. 23" top of drive shaft to top of mounting surface
- 25" midsection model. 28" top of drive shaft to top of mounting surface
- 30" midsection model. 33" top of drive shaft to top of mounting surface
IMPORTANT NOTE ABOUT DRIVESHAFT WITH 8 SPLINES INSTEAD OF 13 SPLINES:
If you have an 8 Spline drive shaft you will need to order a diferent lower unit that comes with 9-1/4" driveshaft. That lower unit is designed for sterndrive or inboard Mercruiser engine and outboard engine using a driveshaft extension.
On top of the 9-1/4" driveshaft you insert the driveshaft extension that converts from 13 to 8 splines.
You will need to buy the coupler or stub shaft and an upper driveshaft extension from an OE dealer. Below is the Kit Part Number:
For 20" midsection Mercury PN: 45-824114A 1
For 25" midsection Mercury PN: 45-823901A 1
For 30" midsection Mercury PN: 45-824115A 1
